Why? It seems that Israel was substantially stronger. Why did not US let a parity be achieved though Russian arms sale to Arabs?

What give you that idea? Somehow this ludicrous idea of Israel as a Goliath has gotten into people's heads. Why don't you read Michael Oren's Six Days of War, it's an excellent overview of the crisis and war. Israel was functionally stronger in a brief war due to its better discipline and training. It's Achilles heel was that it basically brought its economy to a full stop when it mobilized, so the war had to be quick. Otherwise the Arabs might bring their superior numbers to bear.

Russia egged its Arab clients into that war, believing they would win. Diplomats noted that in the month-long runup to the war, both sides seemed confident of victory.

Did you know that when Charles DeGaulle died, they found a speech gracefully lamenting Israel's destruction in 1967 among his papers? He expected the Arabs to win.
