I worked two Clinton visits where he would appear with many other heads of state in a big forum. The level of detail the White House advance team gets into is amazing. Every time I see Bush or Rice at a podium I look at the surroundings and setup and think about all the work that goes into an event lasting minutes or a couple of hours at most.

It's all staged and all scripted, from start to finish. Walk here, stand here, say this, etc.
