You guys are furiously parsing while I am doing what I enjoy, assessing the overall political impact of the banner that Bush approved and flew in to stand under on national TV. We can nitpick all day about exact words and who did what to the banner, but the basic fact remains.

The White House sold an image in a stage show that turned around and bit them on the ass. Now they want to blame someone else for it, as if that will undo the bite and get their poll ratings back in the 80's where they were before Bush started his long slide to the dumps.

I find it fascinating how people treat political debate as an abstract argument with no reference to the people it is aimed at, the voters.

Why do you think the voters no longer think the Iraq invasion was a good idea? Because the media and the Democrats got between Bush and the voters and won't let him get his real message out?

We are back to the dog and the homework. Politics on the ground is a whole process, not a parsing game.
