Enjoyed your "trip report"...

Hi Richard,

As you may have noticed... "Bev" is now a "Crocodile"... don't worry, you will get used to it... But still call me Bev... I just dropped my name and e-mail after some minor annoyances...

Well, I enjoyed your trip report on Nevada... We never did get down east after all... can't remember if I told you this... It was a REALLY last minute cancellation... bags in the truck and everything!!! However, we played "local tourist" and did a little touring in our own part of Ontario. We made a day trip to Peterborough to see the new Canadian Canoe Museum... just a sort of "fledgling" place, but I hope it will turn out to be something great later as they have a good collection of canoes... We also visited Petroglyph Provincial Park... It has a very amazing expanse of stone with petroglyphs etched into it... dozens of them... It is considered fairly unique because of the variety of images... and the state of their preservation... The government built a very large glass building over the whole site to shelter them from acid rain... BTW, the rock is a huge exposed section of a gently sloping hillside... People used to be able to walk around on it... but obviously this would have damaged the petroglyphs over time... The new building has a curving mezzanine which allows you to walk around the entire perimeter of the rock outcrop and look down on the images from fairly close... I took a ton of photos... if I put them up on my website soon, I will e-mail the link to you... Anyhow, it was really quite something... and people seem quite in awe of it... BTW, native people still come to hold ceremonies, etc... on these rocks... The park is quite large as well and has many good hiking trails as well as a very unusual round green lake... it is a miromictic lake (hope I'm spelling that properly)... one which has virtually no movement and which has no oxygen at lower depths... very rare in these parts as everywhere I think... In summer, the algae makes it turn a rather unbelievable deep green... just like an emerald when you look down onto it from an area of higher ground... Anyhow, it is no wonder at all that native people's have long regarded the area as very special...

Well, that's all for now... If I have any new adventures, I will keep you posted...
Bev (who is now Croc....)
