My reading of that is that Kerry's spokesman is saying that Kerry is certain that he was in Cambodia, but perhaps not on Christmas eve.


Yes; another equally plausible reading is that the Christmas in Cambodia story having become untenable, they are backing it off to a later & vaguer date. Of course the Swiftvets are on record for this one as well, and the gist of what they said was, Look, we were with Kerry during January, February, and March, and we can tell you that neither he nor his boat went into Cambodia during that time.

Really, it would have been better for Kerry if he could have just admitted that he stretched a bit when he first told the story. Everybody does that kind of thing; people can understand it. But for whatever reason, Kerry couldn't admit it.
