Kerry served as Middlesex County Prosecutor for six years, longer than I thought.

Actually, he was there for two and a half years. But he interned there as a student for three years prior to joining it professionally.

He was DA Droney's administrative assistant for most of his time there. Droney had Lou Gehrig's disease and needed a PR type person like Kerry to speak for him in public. As far as Whitey Bulger goes, he didn't actually prosecute the Howie Winter case, but he managed the investigators on it.

After he left, he went into private practice suing doctors and trying to get murder convictions overturned. Then he hooked up with Dukakis as Lt Gov.
