The real answer is: "Our 65nm is not clocking higher than our 90nm." Of course, he couldn't say that.

I think you missed the entire slide of "incremental transistors" (they had some technical name for it) where the last 90nm transistor = 1st 65 nm transistor.

So by definition the current 65 nm process will not "clock any faster".

I was really impressed by the Fab slides. Specially with the slide on time to mature yields as well as the fact that Fab 30 has scaled to 30K wspm as compared to a capacity of only 20wspm w/o adding significant tools.

Their slide of cycle times was also stunning. AMD at the top of the list! Who would have thought that a few years ago.

I think AMD may really have become the #1 performing silicon manufacturer.

Also explains how AMD can target 30+% of the world CPU market (and can already supply 20+%) with only TWO FABS (And only one today) against 6 from Intel.

AMD's chip/employee, rev$/employee and num CPU/Fab[employee] may really be the killer fact that most analysts are missing in this picture here.
