I can't comment on a case I know nothing about.

But litigation is a crap shoot. Nobody would represent the little guy in one of these suits if there was zero chance of compensation.

The down side is that it can, at times, turn the legal system into a pinball machine for high rollers and thrill seekers.

That's not how this particular law is supposed to work. It's supposed to help the little man have his day.

The safeguard is that, if you take too many losing cases, you go broke.
