I followed the NY METS with my Dad from inception in '63. The best was in '69. They were in dead last, the cellar, about 15 games behind the then league leading Cubs. Tom Seaver, Buddy Harrleson, Tug MaGraw, Tommy Agee and the crew of regulars. Two nuns after watching Tug pitch said, 'You know, you can win but you have to believe in yourselves. If you don't believe in yourselves you'll never win. You have to believe.' He went in to the locker room gave one of those memorable rebel rousing kick-ass pep talks, 'You Gotta Believe', was born and needing to win almost every game they came back, got it done and become world champs. What is the point? I like the page 16 story, when it has real wood on the bench to belt the balls out of the park as Ivanhoe does. Especially as the Russians are sounding more and more like Chavez toward Exxon and others who have collectively 25B invested to get them up to speed fast on the production scene. Lots of arrogant sob's around the globe filled with greed under the guise of nationalistic fervor spitting on the helping hand. Heavy oil reserves sound good to me and are in plentiful supply on more friendly soils. I'll tip a glass of light sweet to you this evening... 'Git-r-done'
