Interesting analogy, since I have been a Packers fan since my inception, because my family has been Packer loyals pretty much since the club formed in 1919. I was a little young to appreciate the glory days of the 60's, but I certainly endured the disappointing years (decades) that followed. Eventually they were champions again, and seeing the entire cycle was educational.

Ultra long term loyalty is not a good stock market strategy IMO. However, patience in riding a good company most of the way from cycle bottom to cycle top can be many times more rewarding than trying to jump on and off of mo-mo stocks in the flame-out stage. Diversification is key, but I think we may have a good one here. One newsletter writeup often leads to another.
