"If you change "could collapse" to "undoubtedly will collapse," fill in a few etc.'s and acknowledge that this was all "knowable" well before we went in with little more than blind ignorance and fervent hope, then you'll have the beginning of a pragmatic view of the situation. "

I don't find that to be a valid conclusion at all. I have hope for Iraq. It could accomplish national unity or regional security and a democracy in each region. Either of these out comes would be a tremendous accomplishment. Even if that happens, the world or even the Iraqi region of the world, does not automatically reach a peaceful and harmonious state with all. We could end up with one of the most powerful enemies we have ever seen down the road, even if it is a democratic one.

The future is wide open. What isn't, is the preconceived assumptions that you all forward to promote your silly partisan wars... which will continue, as silly as ever, no matter what happens in Iraq.
