The millions of civilians we killed in Vietnam and the hundreds of thousands of civilians we burned alive in Tokyo and soon after killed by nuclear attack in Hiroshima stand as testimony to our capacity to unleash the most violent and heartless of attacks when we deploy our troops. The torture of prisoners who are helpless against us and innocent for all we know, and the face to face execution of civilians including small children whose hands have been bound, personalize the horror. But the horror is no less when ten thousand children can be merciless incinerated in a fraction of a second as they peacefully played in the park on a school holiday as we prepared to 'teach them a lesson' -- as they were in Hiroshima. The ashes of those small children where later gathered and piled to make a small grass covered mound in the park where they played, unaware that we were about to end their short innocent lives. We have no pictures of them playing, and they are easily swept from our recollections of our moral superiority in war. The morality of war is always in doubt, but never more than when a sneaky little group of politicians and bureaucrats gather to tell lies that they hope will scare people just enough to rally support to justify an unprovoked unilateral invasion of a sovereign country in a part of the world where we already had little credibility and where wiser minds knew that it would backfire and serve no lasting beneficial purpose. Now we have no credibility, and neither does this Presidency. And neither do you, the resident war monger of this thread.
