"Maybe this is the real reason why AMD is pulling out the stops on production."

Wouldn't surprise me one iota. My guess is that demand for INTC's P4's has fallen off a cliff this quarter resulting in the panicky pull-in of Conroe and the panicky rush to sell off assets...

Just look at INTC's Q1 balance sheet to see the startling rate of degradation taking place in all the key financial ratios. Oh, and let's not forget that HUGE $3.9B in goodwill that is looking much more bloated now that INTC is selling off assets...Kinda difficult to convince anyone to purchase goodwill these days ;-)

Hey I'm equally or more skeptical about the prospects for the INTC Conroe ramp than Doug is about AMD's 65nm ramp.

Unfortunately for INTC, AMD has much more wiggle room owing to the superb yields and performance features across its 90nm spectrum of product offerings. This fundamental point seems to escape Doug altogether!

Yes...INTC's in a heap of trouble...Doug's gonna have to start posting in capital letters ;-)
