I am aware of the neutral effect you talk about in the big picture, but it is good that you are explaining this so that I did not confuse others. What I meant is that they will drive the price higher than just investors would (someday-interday) before earnings especially if it breaks to a new high (us SOES bandits love breakouts). This will give some longs the chance to exit their position interday at a price they otherwise would not have seen.

P.S. I am a SOES trader and use their system remote from San Diego with one other trader from his home. I have tried to find something better, but have yet to come across a system that makes it worth switching. Their executions are very fast, you dont have to pay extra for using the ISLAND (they are the founder) and the DOS system
can be used on a very low grade (i.e. cheap) computer. They are very good with tech support for remote traders, and we are rarely down.
