Then perhaps I don't understand yours. I often have trouble understanding the points of those who fuss about what the media say or don't say.

Your complaint, as I understood it, was that the media compared the scenario with the OK City bombing, which was similar in that it used fertilizer and a timer. Fertilizer and timers are not the Islamicist tools with which we are most familiar. So the comparison easily shifts the readers' gears into risk from blown buildings and other large structures and away from other risks. And it tells us that they had three times the fertilizer of OK City. Seems to me that is interesting and useful information.

I'm hard pressed to see what moral equivalence has to do with it. And even if it did, I don't see why useful information should be suppressed over it, which is what you seem to be suggesting by complaining that the information was provided.
