Darren is so paranoid about conspiracy theories.

He is afraid (perhaps legitimately) that they may involve a scheme to separate him from his pit bull and his secret stash of porn in the apartment across town that he keeps another name, and where he sleeps on alternate nights. Giving voice to the theory may alert them.

There is a problem with conspiracy theories. What if they are so outlandish that everyone ignores them, but they are true? I just hate uncovering grandiose secret plots. No one believes you when you try to warn them. I have been trying to tell people that those wearing tinfoil hats are right. The ozone layer is depleting quickly, and the magnetosphere is fading. Tinfoil does provide protection against harmful UV. The end of the world may indeed be nigh. It depends on your concerns about time scale as to how alarmed you deserve to be.

BTW-- If you were worried about global warming or possible nuclear war induced by a mad dictator who is as paranoid as the tinfoil hat wearing siuntist down the block, then I have to tell you to stop fretting. Alligators are just like people and they love the heat. It won't hurt you to have to stop wearing sweaters in the winter. Also there are very very few madmen who own nuclear devices and anyway they are very complex to build, operate and deliver. It is a fact that a madman cannot concentrate for long enough or control enough people to do all that.

Can he?
