<<WWII was self-defense -- of that there is no doubt

How do you figure that? Germany never attacked us.>>

Nadine, WWII was for us a war of self-defense, no matter how many times it is denied. Germany had been playing cat and mouse with Atlantic merchant shipping for several years; Germany outright declared war on us before we entered the battle; and don't forget that Germany and Japan were Tripartite Pact military allies from September 1940 on.

So BEFORE we declared war on and attacked Germany, 1) Pearl Harbor was brutally bombed by Japan, Germany's formal war ally; 2) Germany had delivered notice to our president that Germany was in a state of war with us; and 3) German U-boats had sunk many hundreds of merchant shipping vessels in the Atlantic.

Gee, I think after all that it was time for us to go defend ourselves. You seriously disagree?
