Glenn, nice try at attempting to knock Robertson, Stephens & Co., however, your argument seems a bit weak. Obviously you are upset about their downward revisions in estimates and there seems to be a bit of confusion on your part.

"Please fine below two reports issued by you."

I don't understand this sentence. Is this a typo created in a mad rush to get out your e-mail or is my educational institution not versing me in proper english? If it's a typo, that's a bad way to start off an e-mail.

"It appears from what I read below you made this assumption based on the following rumors: "The industry trade publications have reported on the pending introduction of the AS5300 for several months. Although Cisco (CSCO $75-1/4) was careful not to release information on the product until its official introduction, the articles generally portrayed the AS5300 as a product aimed directly at Ascend and its high density MAX TNT and donned it the 'Ascend Killer.' "

The AS5300 is not a rumor. It's an actual produce being created by CSCO. Also, Robertson, Stephens & Co.'s statements seem to be bullish to ASND. Read it again.

"Cisco Systems introduced its next generation remote access concentrator, the AS5300. Despite being billed as the "Ascend Killer," in our opinion, the product features appear to be unimpressive when compared with Ascend's MAX TNT. The AS5300 also appears to be unimpressive when compared with the new, higher density technology expected to be introduced by U.S. Robotics (COMS $50-1/2) within the next few months."

Also, Robertson based their downward revisions mostly due to a lack of contracts this late in the quarter, 2 weeks before it ends. Basically, they were saying, "Show me the contracts!"

"You only made it clear you had no real information until your September, 25, 1997 change in opinion regarding the AS5300."

September 25 is three days away. Do you have a time machine? If so, please let me borrow it.

Glenn, you should see these downward revisions and downgrades in a positive light. On the good side is that this may have given many an opportunity to buy the stock at the lowest prices its seen in 18 months. Also, with these downward revisions, it'll make it easier for ASND to beat estimates. Estimates were at $0.34, now they are at $0.31. This gives ASND the opportunity to blow out earnings if they really are on track.
