You make pronouncements as if you're an insider, but if you are, you're part of the problem, not part of the solution.
To say that global warming is not an issue to run on could be the most idiotic thing I've ever heard you say. It's the hub of all other issues, the war, the budget, the economy. It is the standard against which all Bush's policies can be measured and found not only wanting, but criminal: the denial of science, their willingness to despoil not only other countries but also our own for their perverted vision of American dominance, thumbing their nose at the world in the process. Dick Cheney has said," the American stanmdard of living is non-negotiable,"--and this, as they proceed to destroy it. Remember, the election this year happens on the downside of the hurricane season, one that is already predicted to be more severe, with more intense storms than even last year.
As for running against the gas gougers, that doesn't fly either. It's pandering to a base, demonizing a small part of the problem and is a superficial view of reality and only alienates conservatives who are coming around on the environment in big numbers. As a matter of fact, the environment is a wedge issue for republicans because even the evangelicals are starting to realize we are custodians of the earth. God is not the gardener.
