“unless he can prove that it was indeed "stumbling".

It doesn’t need to be proved. The law of parsimony gives it presumptive validity. A claim that evolutionary change flows from mind, either within or exterior to an organism, is extraordinary and requires support.

“1.) Do we agree that there is some "will to survive" and that choices are made based on that??

If by “will” you intend desire then the answer is “no”. It appears that survival is the consequence of being suited to conditions that favor survival. In order to speak about “will” one must posit the self and self interest, and therefore the biology to support a mind.

“2.) Do humans have consciousness/awareness/intelligence, and is there evolution based on those??

Humans have consciousness if they are not in a coma--yes. And their ability to reason and their knowledge of genetics would allow them to breed in such a way as to encourage particular characteristics in offspring. For instance, having six fingers is a dominant trait for human genes. If there were a sufficient will, then homo sapiens could certainly inhibit five-fingered reproduction and encourage those with six fingers to breed with one another night and day.
