Meanwhile, Iran is holding the world hostage, since the world is dependent on oil.

Iran isn't holding anybody hostage. Do you think Microsoft is holding the world hostage with its monopoly on PC operating systems!? The world is pretty dependent on computers as well.

Iran is entirely within their right to cease producing and selling their oil. If they do, their economy will collapse within a few months, and if the regime is as unpopular as press reports make it out to be we'll probably get another Iranian revolution pretty soon after that. I would like it if the US administration would DARE THEM to stop selling oil, and see how long they can hold out. Gas might go to $5 per gallon, but the Iranian regime would go down the tank faster than you can imagine.
