A market order with E*Trade should take a maximum of 3-5 minutes, even if the stock is trading heavily. I only use limit orders, and still call and demand (and get) corrections once or twice a week when they don't fill my orders. I got a limit filled at 1 9/16 this morning a very long time after your market order, so give 'em hell!!! Be sure to talk directly with a broker, not customer service (choice 2 from main phone menu).
