Chavez is no hero to any American progressives. But Bushies have really hurt our national security and energy security by picking a fight with him. Right up there in stupidity with the "axis of evil" speech or "bring it on!". Chavez controls a huge amount of oil which we need to have access too if the Middle East keeps blowing up. Now he won't sell to us. and what are we supposed to do, invade Venezuela and install a rightwing dictator? Also remember why Bushies hate Chavez to begin with. They don't care if he's a leftist (they get along fine with Brazil's leftist leader and kiss butt with communist China) they care because Chavez insisted big oil companies take a smaller commission. That's the whole issue for Bushies. They stand with big oil companies. Whatever Exxon wants, Bushies fight for.
