I have tested it. For the past few years, I have worked very hard to discipline myself from using the 'magic' words in my posts when referring to other posters during the heat of discussion.

For the most part, the people who have put me on ignore in recent years have made it clear that they are unwilling to stand up in a reasoned discussion with me, if it challenges their partisan loyalties, or simply because I represent views that don't validate their own.
