I think many on this thread keep abreast with the news and hence I do not have to tell the entire thread.

If you have been watching the news and reading the newspapers you would not have missed the Iranian President's threat over the weekend that they will disrupt oil supplies if they are attacked. And Condi Rice (that is how I affectionately refer to her) just blew that threat away during the weekend talk shows.

And then we discover that Iran's threat jacked up crude prices by $1 a barrel and it was at $73 per barrel when the markets opened in the US. At the start of Bernake's speech today, the DOW was down 133. At the end of his speech and at the close the Dow slid to 199 since he stated he feared rising inflation due to higher oil prices.

So just one man, the Iranian President can influence the US markets. And we say Bush is fighting terrorism? The disruption by the terrorists come in different flavors and this is an instance of that.
