My claim that Kerry volunteered for combat is true. He volunteered for Vietnam, specifically the Swiftboats in Nam. He had other choices but he chose 'Nam.

That was in 1968 when the Vietnam War was raging and no one in-country was immune from violence and danger, particularly small Navy gunboats. Kerry knew that by going to Vietnam, he would probably see action, and though he had misgivings, he wanted to make a difference in the war, as he states in his application.

If he had wanted to avoid danger he would have done what Bush and Cheney did, wouldn't he? He'd have dodged.

Just like volunteering for Iraq today, a soldier going into a hot war zone can pretty much depend on at least getting fired at. If you volunteer for Iraq these days, or Vietnam then, you have balls. Or you're nuts. gg
