I'm guessing you mean 5 year low, and I think it is entirely possible that they revisit that space in the 2nd half. Management has made some very big promises for the third and forth quarter and from where I sit this just isn't going to be possible unless Intel gets its monopoly pricing back. An aggressive AMD could help facilitate an Intel 2nd half miss and my bet is we see exactly that; this will absolutely destroy whatever credibility Intel still has with the investment community.

Over the next 12 months, I think we're going to see AMD wage a massive war on the fat middle of the mainstream market and Intel just doesn't have the cost structure to absorb these body blows. Assuming AMD gets to 25% unit share by the end of 2006, how in the world can Intel justify 10x the number of employees when they only have 3x MS??

How well do you suppose Intel would fair if AMD is content to push (down) the aggregate X86 cpu annual revenue to approx $25 billion? I think in this situation, AMD probably walks away with at least a third of the available dollars and Intel is left with a $12 billion shortfall vs the year prior. I think Intel's future management team needs to take the company down to about 40% of its current size and that will cost them $5+ billion. Current management is just to: stubborn/arrogant/foolish to make this happen.
