If you are right and the end game for islam is a war between shiaa and sunni, why should i care? Better they fight each other than us?
Look at how the world markets are reacting over just the mere threats of an oil shut-off from Iran? Even though the US only obtains 10% of its oil from the Mid-East, the rest of the world is fully dependent upon this oil. And we're dependent upon those countries economically. We may be last to fall, but fall we eventually will if we display indifference to the global economy.
As for the oil, the war you allude to is at least a decade off.
I'm sure many people said the same thing about Hitler's Nazi party.. After all, Hitler came to power in the midst of an internal political civil between the Nazis and the Communists, both of which were eagerly attempting to destroy the Weimar Republic.
I really don't want to find the world having to commit millions of troops to the Mid-East 10 years from now. That's the whole purpose of trying to force a ARAB "reality-check" and encouraging them to confront this militant Islamic threat in their midst.
I want THEM to fight it out, militarily, politically, and ideology NOW. I want to see Islamic-Fascism exposed as the terrible evil it is, before the eyes of the Muslim people NOW, not later when forced to lay waste to their countries in a third world war.
That's the first step.. to make Muslims recognize that, although they're not sure what they want for a political system, they sure as hell don't want Islamic Fascism.
And out of this chaos, we must focus upon reconciliation amongst ethnicities, tolerance, and political and economic compromise, all of which is best accomplished via democratic government that is accountable to the people it governs.
You just put things in global context for me although i am uncertain that your scenario on irans aims is completely accurate.
Take some time and research Ahmadinejad's and Muqtada Al Sadr's statements. They WANT Jihad. They NEED Jihad. They will PERSUE Jihad, because it's the very INFLEXIBLE, "all or nothing", platform upon which they have based their political aspirations.
It's the same agenda that people like Bin Laden and his Al Qai'da followers have based THEIR beliefs.
