Behind the scenes, Bush should be working to bring Iran into the community of nations while making an Iranian/Israeli peace agreement a cornerstone.

How in the world is the Islamic Republic of Iran going to "make peace" with the (Jewish homeland) Israeli occupation of the 3rd most holy site in Islam? I don't think you are ever going to see real acceptance of the existence Israel by its neighbor countries, any more than you are going to see acceptance of communist Cuba by the United States.

Israel's neighbors may have periods where they are on relatively good terms with Israel (as the US is with Cuba), but the surrounding Muslim countries will forever be looking for the opportunity to return Israel to its multi-cultural, primarily Islamic origins (in the same way the US will try to push Cuba toward capitalism and democracy when the opportunity presents itself).
