We need to pick our fights more carefully.

Well, you may disagree, but I think Iraq was the perfect choice to initiate change.

We had the authority, both congressional and via the UNSC, to force compliance by Saddam's government. And Iraq is smack dab in the middle of the whole morass, so whatever transpires there is going to eventually have profound impact on its neighbors.

My belief is that our current job is to guarantee sovereignty, train the Iraqi police and army, play referee and honest broker, and provide the "muscle" for those locations where insurgents are particularly strong.

Allying with stalin to defeat hitler was not a bad thing.

However, relegating half of Europe, including Poland where the whole war started, to languish behind an iron curtain for 40 years was inexcusable.

They sat there and "sipped cappucino" for 40 years and watched as their hopes were crumbled, powerless to do anything about it. Or so they thought until they decided they'd had enough and tore down that wall...

Were they inspired by Reagan's speech?? Hmmm....
