Right now with office MSFT has an excellent product. It has more feactures than most konow about. I know from a banking, insurance and audit perspective excel is firmly entrenched (all those interfaces with SAP or ORCL or PSFT programs would be quite expensive to change).

MSFT has morphed into a value company. Look @ how much free cash flow they generate. Once Vista is released it will start a new upgrade cycle (although it should be a drag for tech till next year).

I think part of the issue will be does APPL make more inroads on MSFT's turf. GOOG @ some point will start to lose share and face margin pressure (don't know when this will be).

In the end competition is good for MSFT and the consumer.
