Why should we work for peace for a nation that gives citizenship based on religion rather than birth location? A Jew in Argentina can get paid to immigrate to and live part time in Israel, but a non-Jewish baby born in territory occupied by Israel cannot. That's unamerican (you know, all men created equal).

That issue has long bothered me as well, but I'm finally to the point that I accept culture and heritage as important human social constraints, and ethnicity and religion are part of that. I think there are serious long-term issues for ethnic states, but I'm not adverse to running some trials for a few 100 years and see what happens. I'd support the same in Africa, both for various black tribes and possibly white S. Africans. We should be honest up front about what the pros and cons of doing so are. What I dislike with American support of Israel on this is the lack of admission that we are supporting an ethnic state.
