You miss the point.
Why should I care what they think? They use their popularity to advance their viewpoint, while they are no more qualified than I to talk politics. They are in privleged light due to their jobs and they use that advantage to talk politics and make it seem like they are "right."
As far as your first amendment accusations, pure drivel. You know I support the Constitution wholeheartedly so this section of your argument is bunk.
Reagan got elected POTUS, that puts him in the political arena, front and center. Heston was President of the NRA, again huge politics involved. Ted Nugent is on the board of the NRA, again, voted there and placed in that environment so he can comment and I could see why he comments. Reba and the Chicks? I dunno, I don't watch people who play let's pretend give each other awards for pretending better than their peers. As much as the lefties in the industry use to podium to spout off, I'd say a comment back to them is OK. Sonny Bono and Arnie, elected officials one and all, that makes them in the political arena. What has Saradon, Robbins, Chicks, Clooney, Baldwin or any of those people done to make us think their opinion counts one iota more than mine? Nothing. |
