The jews came from israel and it is natural they would want to return to their homeland.

??? Uhmmmmm, why? My ancestors came from the UK, I don't feel any inner need to live in the UK. How many 3rd generation Chinese live happily in the US without this bizarre idea that they want to live in Hubei?

Jews were in the middle east forever. There was no reason that this had to turn out the way it did in I/P.

Absolutely. Rather than create a Jewish homeland it could have been a country with a mixed population of Jewish and Arab and a few others. That would have been a very American creation, diverse peoples living together in equality and harmony (other than the occassionaly race riot..).

If the arab states and the Mufti had stayed out of it the Israelis and local arabs long ago would have worked out a soluton. Its not as if there was overpopulation of the area back then. There was room for both peoples in the region and so much that could have been done to improve the lot of all of them.

None of that explains why the people of the region couldn't have lived in a multi-cultural pluralistic society instead of a "Jewish homeland".

Anyway, it's water under the bridge now. I say offer them all relocation to New Jerusalem, New Jersey, and the ones that decide to stay can make peace with their neighbors without American involvement. Good luck to them!
