Fair enough. Actually most folks downplayed it whether right or left because we have had our natural optimism tempered so many times in the past. Personally i think it is a big deal. I think foreign control of the iraqi insurgency might have died with z and that the new leaders as despicable as they come, might be open to an amnesty like deal to participate in the new govt/system. We need to keep in mind that there were few jihadists in sunni iraq. If i am right, the last hurdle is the shiaa militias. As an optimist i think we have a 50/50 chance of salvaging rummys folly. As a realist its probably only 1-4. In any case with the new govt in place and 3 months to go where the constitution can me amended to be more inclusive to sunnis, and of course with z dead, at least we have a shot.
