Yes the rifle was distinctive... Chuck Connors as Lucas McCain ... The Rifleman... I think the difference was that the Rifleman never really wanted to kill anyone, he killed to defend himself or his family, and bad guys were Bad.....Todays television lacks that clarity. As we have had to produce more and more tv shows they have had to be more and more convoluted, and the lines get somewhat blurred. The good guys are often kinda bad and the bad guys are often only a little worse.... Like that show the shield, I had to stop watching cause I wanted them all dead.
