Obsession is a key word as it is often observed that these children are not just "able to achieve" single-minded type obsessions... they are drawn to it as an escape from the anxiousness they experience form other activities like social interactions.

It's often a 'fine line' that is walked by parents with these children as society has it's expectations and norms.
