About sixty people present, of whom about 30 were stockholders and stockholder companions. The remainder RFI Company employees, board memebrs, accountants and RFI licensee guests.
Annual meeting transactions for director, auditor and amending 1999 stock option plan were perfuntory.
Gen2 film samples present were very impressive. Dainippon's first commercial run of film in the 22"x22" sheets were clear, low haze and had wide dynamic range for control of life. Looking at the samples against backlighting, there were no anomalies (bubbles, streaks and teh like that occurred in early trial manufacturing test at HIachi.
Hitachi roll film was shown in two samples; 6.5'x 19", shown as static samples not hooked up to current. Looking at the darkened film, no appearance of defect was noticed.
What was even more impressive is the evident seriousness and excitement which both DIC and Hitachi officials displayed as they outlined their manufacturing, marketing and development plans for SPD technology.
And the singling out of SPD technology as a key part of both companies long term business strategy to emphasize innovative products based on technology and a technology that is related to their core competencies.
Saxe and Harary made summaries of already known facts about SPD developmenets in the past year and utilized some of the same market speculations in auto, aero and archo markets seen or ehard previously in Company presentations. Both acknowledged their remarks were anticlimactic when placed alongside the presenations of DIC and Hitachi. And that indeed was the case.
With only two questioners, the meeting ended at 12:30PM.
