I would expect, my fathers DNA is diff to my moms DNA, which is different to mine... most of it is, but certain parts are exactly the same as your father's, while other parts are exactly the same as your mother's (mitrocondrial). That's how they can trace lines of descent by watching for random mutations in lines that are passed down unchanged.
