JF, I'm not saying the small company thing isn't true; I've just never seen any numbers.

I don't have any numbers, either, but my theory is that corporations too big to fly under the radar cannot risk hiring illegals directly. Instead, they'll hire contracting firms who will in turn hire illegals. That's exactly what Wal-mart tried to do:

Wal-mart says they require their contractors to use only legal labor, but it's likely that in this case, there was a wink and a nod between the store manager and the contractor.
