When did you live in the US? I was in WA state to Nov 05 and with the 'do not call' law you don't get harrassing telemarketing calls anymore.

Plus, I'd like to trade my Shaw internet for my old Comcast with blistering fast high speed internet at ridiculously cheap prices with no equipment to buy (unlike Shaw). The cable TV+internet bundle was super cheap and there were way more channels than Shaw. I hate having to pay separately for Nat'l Geographic, Bloomberg, Discovery Health etc etc.

I agree that perhaps the telcos see a money grab chance but I don't think that makes them any worse than other telcos.
