Long-time U.S. senators are completely disconnected from their constituents. In the middle of negotiations for the senate's recently passed immigration bill, forwarded email to our members, and the senior incumbent's return message actually had a scolding tone stating many Americans are "prejudiced" against immigrants. Wow! the arrogance was downright stunning and needless to say, he will not receive another vote from me. They should face re-election in a shorter time-span...six yrs without the need to answer voters questions is too long; although the 2yr re-election timeline seems too brief for the U.S. House. 3 or 4 yr terms for both houses would seem a more effective arrangement. Term limits in general would be the best solution--no more than 5 two yr terms for the House and 2 six yr terms for the Senate. In fact, I favor the concept of bringing congressional members back to their home districts with brief visits to WashDC. In that way the current lobbyist wall would be demolished, and our elected officials would once again work for our best interests instead of today's "special interests."
