As I recall (perhaps even correctly <g>), when Studebaker was failing, they stopped production of the “Studebaker” but kept the Canadian factory that was producing (the formerly called Larks) Commanders, Cruisers, and Daytonas? The Avanti ended up being bought out, and resumed production under that name. If my memory serves correctly?, the Avanti failed again and through different owner(s) ended up being a “customized-restyled” Camaro or Firebird. If you’re interested in Studebakers, browse through the stude.com site, then click on the Studebaker Webring. Lots of other sites linked there. There is? (was!) an alt autos. Studebaker Newsgroup. Lots of good people there. Id P.S. I too could use a new left knee, and a few new lower back discs. :-)
