** ON Topic ** Life as a trader, part XLVI.

It's been a really strange ride as an online trader this past 6 months, and an even stranger 8 years. The skills I developed in 1998-1999 were no good to take me through the tech wreck 2000-2001. Only thing which saved me was a healthy dose of paranoia and distrust (good emotions!).

I misplayed the early stages of the gold bull 2001-2003, making less than I probably should have, and then misread the severity and length of the correction 2004-2005. Two more skill sets learned and probably never needed again.

This year, a lot of my stuff is still in the doldrums, but there have also been a few screamers, SVM, BWR.WT, NGX.WT, and of course, ARU. It has still not been a time to be a long term investor in promising juniors, but I just punched in NGX.WT for the first time in a few days. My God, I can't believe it.

Going forward? Who knows? Maybe juniors will finally start getting some investment dollars thereby driving my net worth up, LOL. How do others see things in the next little while (3-6 months)? Is it just about picking the right stocks (as so far been this year), or is it finally going to be about the sector?

Playing the markets is like having kids. No two are the same, and things your use then they're four are not applicable when they're eight or even of use on the next kid. Flexibility, I guess. Flexibility and an overriding correct approach to sectors, and trust in those who've earned it.

Gold will eventually do well, but who knows the path it takes.
