Hi, Mephisto!!!
Perhaps you are right about the ring. It was definitely a change for Diana. Unfortunately it looked so Euro-trashy that it fed into all the similar criticisms of the Fayeds. Incidentally, the ring had still not been paid for several days after the crash. I hope that has now been taken care of.
My daughter is taking it easy in the eighth grade. Her school was recently expanded from kindergarten-fifth grade to a K-8 school, one grade at a time. For some reason, the teachers she had in the sixth grade are the same ones she has in the eighth. They are much easier than her seventh grade teachers, who were unnecessarily brutal, giving bright children in an all honors school D's and F's for the pure sadistic pleasure of it, in my opinion. Marks this low in children who work hard and usually do well are signs of bad teaching, not bad students, especially in math and science, and reflect that the subject matter was not presented in a way the children could understand it. The children, most of whom are under pressure from home to do well, were often in tears in class because of the mistreatment by the teachers, and fear of criticism at home later.
So, yes, eighth grade is an all A's, kick-back year for my daughter, as she expends much of her energy visiting fifteen or so public and private high schools, developing an extensive portfolio in several media for the visual arts audition at the arts high school, and writing admissions essays and gathering letters of recommendation.
She did want to major in art at college, and teach kindergarten. Now she is interested in becoming a writer, and is showing promise at it. I think thirteen is way too young to decide what you want to be, anyway!!
Did you start volunteering yet, Mephisto?? I'm not sure I recall knowing exactly what you do, anyway. Could you remind me?? |
