bobby re: ["Phillip's Publishing is nothing more than a modern day version on the Pied Piper..."]

Bobby... all true and very well said.

People despite protests to the contrary -- love to be sold.

P.T. Barnum did NOT say -- "a sucker is born every minute" ....as is so often misquoted.

What he said was -- "a customer is born every minute."

And CNBC, Phillips, Agora, Weiss et al ...have simply followed the 2,000 year old principles of selling to human nature.

The madness of crowds and other popular delusions have not changed over the last 2,000 years and will not change in the next 2,000 years.

Sometimes the most powerful tactics and weapons really are the most simple:

No truer, or more valuable words have ever been spoken vis a vis trading than these:

"Play the Players -- Not the Cards"

Thank You -- Doyle Brunson.

The greatest mistake I see being consistantly made is this:

-- trying to trade every market.

Occasionally, there are times to ring the register, to get paid and to reduce both risk and exposure, and then to be patient.

Yes...patience really is a virtue... a very well paying one, I may add.

Occassionally traders simply need to step aside and wait for the dust to settle, to see if the herd makes another mistake, to wait for "discrepancies between price & risk" to reappear -- and then to step back in and seize those opportunities.

Of late, it has not been difficult to make money.

Actually; it has been easy -- too easy.

And whenever it gets "too easy" -- you can be guaranteed that it will NOT remain so ...for much longer.

Maximizing returns over the last year has been all about the fundamentals.

Palladium offered the last great value/laggard play amongst the metals.

Deeply discounted, disliked and disrespected plays like that rarely appear in mature markets.

It was the single most attractive risk:reward opportunity of the last year and was the textbook posterchild example of a "discrepancy between price and risk."

Silver offered much more compelling individual market dynamics than gold... and from last September until this April -- doubled and tripled the returns of gold...but, yet you didn't see the herd jump onto Hi-Ho Silver -- until AFTER it doubled and AFTER it dramatically outperformed gold....perhaps best personified by Agora Publishing's "late to the party" promo titled:

"BETTER THAN GOLD!"

Here's their very well written promo that they sent out -- AFTER the move:

isecureonline.com

The lesson learned?

The same one people just learned from Jim Sinclair (Let cheerleaders -- cheer and let traders -- trade):

re: Agora

Let writers -- write...and let traders -- trade.

Let me be clear here -- I think Agora Publishing does a lot for investors. I have great respect for much of their commentary, Bill Bonner is a great thinker and an extremely gifted writer.

I like Dann Denning and many of their other writers. I don't always agree with them...and they are a "DIRECT RESPONSING MARKETING COMPANY" -- selling Financial Newsletters and services.

Understanding that...is job #1, when reading either their commentary, or their promotions.

If you want to make money and learn how to trade -- seek out traders... not newsletter publishers utilizing extremely gifted and talented copywriters -- whose ONLY job is -- "to sell you something".

"Selling" is not a dirty word...and they do offer a lot of value for FREE and make no mistake about it ... they are very, very good at what they do vis a vis -- selling.

Agora, Weiss and especially Phillips Publishing -- pitching for Tobin Smith, Louis Navallier, Robert Hsu, Mark Skousen et al -- makes over $300 MILLION DOLLARS per year... selling you financial newsletters.

Of late, they loaded the herd headlong into gold, oilpatch and commodity plays...pounding the table harder and harder, the higher the market went. They teased and tormented your curiosity, your ego and your greed -- with every twist, hook, line and sinker known to man...pushing every emotional & psychological hot button in existance via goosing the greed glands amongst gold bugs & oilpatch permabulls to levels here-to-for unseen...

And then once again, the trap door opened and the herd was once again...left holding the bag.
