Probably started at the end of Q1. Until that point, they were maximizing revenue with their capacity. As Fab36 started to come up, they could think about shifting product mix. In addition, it was becoming obvious that Intel was going into panic mode. So how best to weather the storm? Intel had placed their bet on the best way to milk P4 on dual core. However, P4 DC is still vulnerable, so that is the direction to go. The key is to what extent HP is willing to design them into more lucrative SKUs. All indications are that HP is happy to do that. For consumers, AMD is across their whole line. In notebooks, if you go by the ads in the US for the big retailers, HP only sells Turion notebooks for the consumer space. Heck, they are even in their commercial lineup. True, Intel has the larger presence, but there are categories like the thin client and blade PCs which are exclusively AMD...
