...Eight months out of twenty to go for a knee replacement...

This has not been my family's experience. My brother will
have knee replacement surgery in mid-July after a recommendation
from his surgeon who he saw 3 weeks ago. Yes he had to wait 8 weeks to see the surgeon.

I am a cancer patient and have MRIs annually. I have never had to wait longer than 2 weeks for an MRI and am able to see my
oncologist usually within days or immediately in an emergency.

Is our health care system flawed? Absolutely. But I also find that most patients that I meet don't have a clue about how to access the system or take responsibility on managing their illnesses.
