@Eracer - Cuts " So, as Conroe and Athlon 64 volumes ramp up do you expect more unusually large and/or early price cuts for AMD CPUs? "
I don't understand, in which direction you want to put me?
" So are you saying that no price cuts listed for the 1MBx2 Athlon 64 X2s are a sign that there are very few are being produced because yields are low? "
First, it isn't clear, whether 1MB will decrease too - second, if prices stay as Anand showed, its clear what is "EOL" and what will be sold or you want to buy a 4800+ with 200$ more than a 5000+? I really don't know, what you want to show here. We have stated a 1000 thousand times, that AMDs DC DIEs are BIG, TOO BIG!!! Its even worse with F-Steps - so its reasonable to see "only" (mostly) 2x512KB DIEs from the factory - I would do the same ... When the 65nm process with the new SMALL L2 cell will appear, the game changes completly. It will be a pleasure to see, how the L2 DIE size will go to 1/4 of the size (now/90nm), but pssst, doesn't matter for most people ...
" If investors can be considered the "crowd", then the crowd running away from Intel AND AMD. "
Right, looks ugly, I have written this already on WO - I would like to see Intel at 25$, so AMD would stay above 40$ ... so if AMD could show real good earnings and outlook, the picture will change, otherwise AMD will be nearly "crap" (performance wise) if Intel is falling further and further - so I'm not a big fan of LOW LOW Intel quotes.
