That's funny, but I was just reading today in Nature magazine, online, that eating trans-fat causes 30% more abdominal obesity than natural fats (in monkeys, if you think humans aren't anything like monkeys you can ignore this.) The monkeys fed trans-fats also had higher blood sugar and more insulin resistance, which are precursors to Type 2 diabetes.

They published another research article this year that suggests that corn syrup causes more diabetes than sugar.

Since corn syrup and trans-fats are some of the most important components of fast food, it appears that fast food really can make you sicker than some other things you could eat.

But take a look at the labels on food that you buy at the grocery store. Take, for example, the peanut butter you feed your children and the margarine you put on your bread -- hydrogenated oil or fat is the same as trans-fat, and there's corn syrup in almost everything.

You can't even buy soda pop or pre-sweetened drinks that don't have either corn syrup or artificial sweetener. (Except for niche products.)
